MESA MLK Martin Luthur King Parade

Mesa MLK Parade 2015

This years theme: Many Faces, One Community Working to End Childhood Hunger

Mesa MLK Parade Yes it’s that time of year again! Robinson Ranch will ride in the MLK parade.

Come watch or join us on horseback as we parade!

We will meet at the Ranch early to get ready – time to be advised closer to the time.

The check-in starts at 8:30 AM at the Southeast corner of University and Center. Line up by 10 AM and begin marching by 11 AM. The Parade will end at the Mesa Arts Center around 12 PM. The Parade route is .7 miles. This year, in order to make an even stronger impact in our community, the MLK Committee has partnered with the United Food Bank. Our theme is “Many Faces, One Community Working to End Childhood Hunger”. Your parade entry must incorporate this theme and we strongly encourage you to join us in combating Childhood Hunger by contributing to our Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive. Items will be collected at the staging area, along the parade route and at the Mesa Arts Center.

The aim of the Mesa MLK Parade:

This is how the Mesa Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee’s celebratory events are designed to bring community residents together for a weekend of remembering Martin Luthur King Jr.:

1.The MLK, Jr. Community Gala is a time to recognize the work of Dr. King, the legacy he left behind, and his message that is still relevant today. We also recognize those who exhibit the characteristics of Dr. King in their everyday lives with the Veora E. Johnson Spirit of Unity Awards.
2.The accomplishments of students, who through the expression of their understanding of Dr. King’s philosophy and ideas are celebrated via the MLK, Jr. Creative Arts, Writing, Oratory and Media Contest, the Student of the Year Award, and the MLK Scholarship Winners presentation.
3.The MLK, Jr. Annual Parade and Festival gives Mesa residents and the valley the opportunity to remember our history as a city, celebrate the progress made over the years, and recognize the work that continues to be accomplished.
4.The MLK Basketball Classic provides an additional opportunity to remind others of the work of Dr. King and his contemporaries. The Mesa Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. Celebration Committee has made a commitment to serve the community by seeking ways to give back and work within the community to Build a Better Mesa.
